Alumni Career Highlights

With their knowledge of history, people, and places, our anthropology alumni have gone on to top PhD programs, including here at Harvard University, Brown University, Brandeis University, and Simmons College.

They are currently working in the fields of education, finance, engineering, financial services, forensic science, the law, museums, research, and writing and publishing.

Our biology alumni have gone on to graduate schools in a variety of fields, including bioethics, biomedical sciences, education, forensic genealogy, health and medicine, neuroscience, oncology, and public health at top research universities.

Those include Boston University (PhD Neuroscience), Columbia University (biology & chemistry), Dartmouth College (health & medicine), University of Illinois at Chicago (PhD Health & Medicine), and Yale University. In addition, they have received advanced degrees from Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (PhD Law and Criminal Justice) and Harvard Medical School (biology & chemistry).

They work in a variety of fields including biomedical research, biotechnology, higher education, health care, information technology, pharmaceuticals, and veterinary medicine.

Our biotechnology graduates have gone on to PhD programs in the fields of AI and machine learning, cell and systems biology, genetics, and neurogenetics at national universities, including Oxford University, University of Wisconsin, the University of California at Irvine, and the University of Toronto.

They have also received advanced degrees within Harvard University at the John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS).

They are employed in the field of biotechnology and related industries such as pharmaceuticals, hospital and health care, and medical devices.

Alumni from the field of Creative Writing and Literature work in a variety of writing-intensive industries, such as fundraising, publishing, advertising/marketing and other areas of communications, and education (secondary and higher education).

In addition, they have pursued graduate work at top schools, including Brandeis Unviersity (English), Cambridge University (education), University of North Carolina (MFA, creative writing), as well as Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education and Divinity School.

Our data science graduates are employed in the fields of telecommunications, technical services, finance and banking, health and medical services, insurance, retail, performing arts, and many other industries.

Our recent graduates have gone on to advanced degree programs at Dartmouth College (biological and physical science), Johns Hopkins University (financial mathematics), and University of Southern California (business administration and management).

Every organization needs to tell a digital story. As a result, our digital media design graduates work in the fields of IT, entertainment and media production, and publishing, but they also work in management consulting, health care, higher education, and government administration. 

Our digital media graduates have gone on to graduate programs at New York University (Computer and Informations Systems Security), Purdue University (PhD, Engineering Related Technology), and UCLA (film production and film studies).

Alumni of our English degree program work in a variety of writing-, research-, and communication-intensive industries, such as human resources, IT, publishing, advertising/marketing, fundraising, and education (secondary and higher education).

In addition, they have pursued graduate work at top schools, including Boston University (PhD, American Studies), the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Tufts University (education), and the University of Pennsylvania (Phd, Business & Leadership).

Our finance graduates have gone on to graduate school in a variety of fields, including economics (Georgetown University), healthcare administration (Virginia University of Lynchburg), international affairs (Columbia University), MBA (Georgetown University, MIT, University of Michigan, University of Oxford), and project management (Northeastern University).

They have also gone on to graduate from programs at other schools within Harvard University, including the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD), and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government (HKS).

Our government alumni are putting their global understanding and policy training to work in a variety of public service, corporate, and non-profit industries.

They have also gone on to graduate school in the fields of law & criminal science, education, economics, business, and finance. Graduate schools attended include Boston College, Dartmouth College, George Washington University (DHSc), Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, New York University (NYU), Pace University as well as Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education and Kennedy School of Government (HKS).

With their historical and cross-culture knowledge of people, places, and political/social movements, our history alumni have gone on to top PhD programs, including here at Harvard University and at Boston University, George Washington University, University of Connecticut, University of Edinburgh, University of London, University of Oxford, and Yale University.

They are currently working in the fields of aerospace, defense, education, environmental services, management & finance, public relations and communications, public service and government administration, research, and writing and publishing.

Graduate schools attended include Boston College, Brandeis University, Duke University, Georgetown University, Northeastern University, Northwestern University, University of California — Berkeley, Yale University as well as Harvard Kennedy School of Government (HKS) and Harvard Business School (HBS).

The writing, research, and interview skills our graduates gain are in high demand in both nonprofit and for-profit organizations and are transferable to many careers.

Our graduates work in journalism; the armed forces; fundraising and development; writing and editing; marketing and advertising; media production; public relations and communications; and publishing.

Our management graduates have gone on to graduate school (PhD business administration, Phd Professional Leadership, PhD Marketing, law, education, public administration, real estate, and finance) at universities such as Brandeis, Boston College, Columbia, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins University, University of Paris, and Stanford University.

They have also graduated from programs at other schools within Harvard University, such as Harvard Business School (HBS), the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS), and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government (HKS).

Most of our graduates are full-time middle school and high school math teachers.

A number of graduates work as math tutors, either running their own private tutoring companies, or employed by such programs as the Russian School of Mathematics. Still others are pursuing careers in computer science, financial services, and IT.

Many have gone on to graduate work at Boston University (PhD Teaching and Education), Brown University (languages), Johns Hopkins University (financial mathematics), Syracuse University (computer science), Tufts University (PhD Education), University of Oregon (PhD Math), and Stanford University as well as Harvard University Graduate School of Education (educational instructional technology) and Harvard Medical School (machine learning).

Our museum studies graduates work in art galleries, museums, historical societies, universities and other institutions that have archive materials and noteworthy objects, such as the Boston Red Sox. 

Many have gone on to graduate school, including Bard College (art & design), Columbia University (PhD Law & Criminal Sciences and PhD Art Teacher Education), Drexel University (PhD Law & Criminal Sciences), Emerson College (art & design), MIT (urban studies and planning), and University of Maryland (PhD Art History, Criticism, and Conservation). 

Alumni from these fields have gone on to do PhD work here at Harvard University at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, as well as other national ranked degree programs.

These include Columbia University (social work), the Chicago School of Professional Psychology (PhD, business psychology), Boston College (PhD, Psychology), Brown University (PhD, behavioral and social health science), Suffolk University (PhD, clinical psychology), University of Massachusetts — Amherst (PhD, Psychology), University of Edinburgh (PhD, health and social science), University of Hartford (PhD, clinical psychology), and Yeshiva University (PhD). 

They work in the fields of mental health, research, health care, human resources, and education (secondary and higher education).

Alumni from these fields have gone on to do PhD work at George Mason University (education), Georgetown University (liberal arts and science studies), and the University of California at Los Angeles (islamic studies), among other programs.

They work in the fields of law, finance, theology, IT, research, and higher education.

Alumni from our software engineering program (a retired program) have gone on to graduate school, including here at Harvard University at the Harvard Divinity School (theology), and at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (computational science and engineering, PhD computer science).

They have also done graduate work at Boston University (business administration and management), Carnegie Mellon University (PhD architecture), Duke University (PhD computer science), George Washington University (PhD computer and information systems security), Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (PhD medicine), Johns Hopkins University (computer and information science), and the University of Illinois at Urbana (business administration and management).

Sustainability is a field of study that touches nearly every industry.

As a result, our graduates’ professional careers reflect the wide-ranging employment opportunities of this growing, evolving, and critical profession.

They have also gone on to graduate programs at University of Birmingham (PhD, geography, earth, and environmental science); New York University (global affairs); University of Edinburgh (MBA); Georgetown University (international business policy); Tufts University (MD); Cornell University (JD/MBA) as well as Harvard University’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health (PhD, environmental health).

Our Systems Engineering graduates (as well as graduates of our retired, related Information Management Systems degree program) have gone on to complete PhD programs and other graduate degrees in various fields.

These include Cornell University (MBA); George Washington University (PhD, computer science); New York University (computer and information systems); Northeastern (computer science); Northwestern (management science); University of Southern California (JD, law); and University of Virginia (management of information technology).
