The Harvard i-lab is the central component of the Harvard Innovation Labs, a cross-disciplinary ecosystem for the Harvard community to explore innovation and entrepreneurship. The i-lab provides co-working space, extensive workshops, advising, and supportive community to help Harvard students move their startup ideas forward.
We spoke to Joanna Smith (ALB 2016) about the EdTech venture she created at the i-lab while an ALB student at Harvard Extension School. AllHere is an attendance intervention management platform for K-12 schools and districts, currently being used in school systems in 12 states. We heard from Joanna about her advice to students curious about the i-lab and also the genesis of her company – how and why she started it, how it evolved, and how the i-lab played an essential role in its creation and growth.
