Join us as we sit down to speak with Professor Cornel West. One of the most highly respected American public intellectuals of our time, Dr. West was formerly a Professor of the Practice of Public Philosophy at Harvard Divinity School and he also taught in the Department of African and African-American Studies at Harvard. Dr. West is an American Book Award-winning author of over 20 books and he has held professorships at Harvard, Princeton University, Yale University, Pepperdine University, Union Theological Seminary, and the University of Paris.

We spoke to Dr. West about his work with Harvard Extension School ALB graduate James Venable (Dr. West was his Independent Reading and Research advisor), the need for wisdom in the era of smartphones, the important role played by adult and non-traditional students in the academy, and what motivates Dr. West to continue teaching after nearly four decades.
