Dr. Gloria Y.A. Ayee is a Lecturer in the Department of Government at Harvard University, and a faculty associate with the Carr Center for Human Rights at the Harvard Kennedy School. Her areas of specialization are American politics, comparative politics, behavior and identity politics, and race and ethnic politics.

Dr. Ayee received her Ph.D. in Political Science from Duke University. She is the co-editor of Perspectives on Women’s Leadership and Gender In(Equality), a collection of essays that takes an interdisciplinary approach to exploring issues connected to women’s leadership and women’s rights advancement around the world.

We were honored to be able to speak with Dr. Ayee about a recent article she wrote which detailed the successful efforts at Covid-19 mitigation and exhibited by women leaders across the globe in the last year and a half. We also spoke about the course she teaches titled “Race, Film, and American Politics“.
